Nanotechnology

Dr. Patti Pente is awarded the Scholar in Residence for Arts Research in Nanotechnology.
From January to May, 2012, Patti Pente will set up studio at the federally funded nanotechnology building on campus, to begin her project, titled,  “The Nanoscape – A Tiny Intervention”. Dr. Pente comments, “When the boundaries between the inorganic and the organic blur at the nanoscale, what is the nature of ‘landscape’ and ‘human’?  How might contemporary notions of materialism inform a sense of agency and/or subjectivity that moves beyond humanism? What implications might occur for education? As nanotechnology meets my oldest paintbrush, I begin to consider these ideas through the reinterpretation of landscape art.”

During her residency Patti Pente will be giving two presentations so please keep tuned for the small talk!
